The next step
after choosing your lot and house plan is to describe and define
all the elements that comprise a finished home. Dont let this
section stress you! It is exhaustive in detail, but you wont
be using all of the categories listed. Everything that you can see
and touch (as well as many things you cannot) must be specified
by either you or our construction/design team. Many of the items
in the Specifications document are industry standard and will not
require any decisions on your part. Remember that old adage about
how an ant eats an elephant... one bite at a time! So take it bite
by bite. Think about what you must have, what you would like to
have, and what elements would make this house your dream home. Write
notes in the appropriate section after discussing these ideas with
other household members.
Are you one
of the many who havent a clue? Not to worry. We can assist
you.
Specifications:
The Specifications
document is the detailed description of every item used to construct
the home, as well as descriptions of policies, procedures, and requirements
for the proper use of all materials. Minimum standards are also
included in this document. The roles and responsibilities, as well
as the limitations of both the owner and contractor, are also explained.
